Cava Toppetti (San Giorgio Canavese)
The ground-mounted photovoltaic plant “Cava Toppetti,” located in the Municipality of San Giorgio Canavese (TO), represents a concrete example of how renewable energy production can be integrated with land redevelopment initiatives. Built on an area of 16 hectares previously used as a clay quarry, the plant was inaugurated in November 2024 and has an installed capacity of 11 MWp, with an estimated annual production exceeding 18,600 MWh, enough to meet the energy needs of 5,700 households.
The project was developed with particular attention to the environmental and landscape context, with the aim of restoring value to a previously disused site. Reforestation activities, also carried out beneath the panels and on the steeper slopes, were designed by specialized professionals to support the preservation of native species and the creation of suitable habitats for local wildlife.
The plant is equipped with single-axis solar tracking technology, which optimizes energy production by following the sun’s movement throughout the day, thereby improving the overall efficiency of the system.
